Quick Start Guide
- Be sure your web browser is set to accept Cookies. (See "Cookies" below.)
- Log in to enter messages into the discussion.
- Review the Guidelines for detailed information on how to participate in a web dialogue.
Registration, Login/Password Help, My Profile
- Registration: Registered participants may join the discussion and complete feedback forms. They also receive daily summaries and WebDialogues updates by email. To register you must have a valid email address.
Note: AOL and Yahoo may block dialogue messages as spam. Consider using an alternate email address such as Gmail or Hotmail. - Login/Password Help: Login (top right of screen) and then click Login/Password Help on the Login Page. You must enter the email address you used when you registered. Your login name and new password will be sent to that address. If you need additional help, contact help@webdialogues.net.
- Editing Your Profile: To change your profile, go to "My Profile" (top right of screen). If you don’t see the My Profile link, you must log in. Select "Update Profile," change your profile information and "Submit."
- Changing your password: To change your password, select "My Profile" (top right of screen). If you don’t see this link, you must log in. Select "Change Password." Type your new password (twice) and "Submit."
WebDialogues work best with the following browsers:
- PC: Firefox, Mozilla, or Internet Explorer 6 or 7.
- Mac OSX: Safari or Firefox. (Microsoft no longer supports Internet Explorer for the Mac, and no longer provides security or performance updates.)
- Text-based browser: Lynx.
Cookies:
To log in to a web dialogue, your web browser must be set to accept Cookies.
- PC: Firefox - Tools/Options/Privacy. Internet Explorer - Tools/Internet Options/Privacy/Advanced - check "Override automatic cookie handling," select "Accept under First-party Cookies," select "Accept under Third-party Cookies," check "Always allow session Cookies."
- Mac OSX: Safari - Preferences/Security/Accept Cookies. Firefox - Preferences/Privacy/Cookies.
To adjust web page font size:
- PC: Firefox - View/Text Size/Increase, Decrease (ctrl + and ctrl -). Internet Explorer 7 - View/Text Size.
- Mac OSX: Safari - View/Make Text Bigger (Command +), Make Text Smaller (Command -). Firefox - View/Text Size/Increase (Command +), Decrease (Command -).
